The Institute of World History hosted the lecture of Dr. Mony Garloff from the Institut für Geschichtswissenschaften und Europäische Ethnologie, Universität Innsbruck. The delivered lecture was on  František Antonín Špork and the History of Official and Clandestine Book Trade in Early-18th Century Bohemia. Professor Horčička delivered a lecture at the University of Cambridge

On 22 February 2022, Professor Václav Horčička participated as one of the addressed lecturers on the Liechtenstein Colloquium, which was organised by the Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS) at Christ’s College, University of Cambridge. Professor Horčička presented the lecture on the topic: The Liechtenstein presence in the Czech lands during World War Two 1939-1945.

For the last two years, Dr. Anežka Kuzmičová (Institute of Czech Language and Theory of Communication) has conducted creative research into children’s reading. Researchers often emphasise literacy and language acquisition but there has been little study of what children experience as they read: what they take in from stories and what stays with them afterwards.

The third and last meeting of the Teaching European History in the 21st Century project took place on 20–22 May. The focus of the ISP was mainly the critical discussion about selected chapters from the forthcoming transnational textbook of European history along with a collective production of video lectures, on which students cooperated with the authors of the chapters.

As War Nears 100 Days, Charles University Is Steadfast in Support for Ukraine

Charles University is among those helping, aiding more than 150 Ukrainian students and academics, setting up Czech language courses, housing hundreds of refugees in dormitories, and drawing on students volunteering at train stations and centres. "I believe that by working together we are able to help effectively," Rector Milena Kraličková wrote in late May.
