The Medieval History Seminar

The Medieval History Seminar is one of the few departments in the Czech Republic whose research concentrates on general medievalism. Specific research reflects on the modern trends in research and focuses on the early medieval state and society of Latin Europe, the specifics of Central European development in the Middle Ages, selected problems of ecclesiastical history and law, and the history of Eastern and South-eastern Europe. The seminar cooperates with the medieval department at the University in Passau and established a line of communication with partners at the Free University of Berlin and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, and finally also cultivates a long-term partnership with the department for Eastern European History at the University of Konstanz. Its members are part of the Faculty Centre for the Study of the Middle Ages.
